Keynote:

Dr. Lane Freeman is a nationally recognized educator, speaker, and strategist focused on the future of teaching and learning. As Director of Online Learning for the North Carolina Community College System, he leads efforts to integrate artificial intelligence (AI), immersive technology, and high-engagement practices into education and workforce training across the state—and increasingly, across the country.

With over two decades of experience, Lane has facilitated AI and instructional innovation events in numerous states, reaching thousands of educators, staff, and workforce professionals. His work spans K-12, higher education, and adult learning environments, with an emphasis on equitable access, practical implementation, and faculty empowerment.

He is a sought-after speaker and has served on national panels, podcasts, and webinars exploring the role of AI, online learning, and career and technical education (CTE) in a rapidly changing landscape. His sessions often explore how tools like ChatGPT, virtual reality, and HyFlex models can improve student engagement, support dual enrollment learners, and foster self-regulation in young adults.

In addition to leading the statewide Immersive Learning Conference in North Carolina, Lane has consulted with institutions and organizations across the U.S. on professional development, curriculum design, and digital transformation. He is also a contributing author to systemwide handbooks and a developer of statewide certification initiatives for faculty.

Lane earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership from East Carolina University and brings a practitioner’s perspective to everything he does—combining years of classroom teaching, department leadership, and system-level innovation. Whether he's delivering a keynote or hosting a hands-on training, Lane is driven by one goal: helping educators feel confident, capable, and inspired to meet the future head-on.
