KeynoteDr. Noah Lenstra is an Assistant Professor of Library and Information Science and an affiliated member of the Gerontology Faculty at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he brings a community engagement approach to the study and teaching of librarianship. Dr. Lenstra founded the Let’s Move in Libraries Initiative, which focuses on supporting healthy living in public libraries through innovative community partnerships. In his currently active Institute of Museum & Library Services funded project HEAL (Healthy Eating and Active Living) at the Library, Dr. Lenstra confirmed the finding that the most impactful and sustainable library-health partnerships emanate from library staff passionate about health who feel supported, both within their institutions and within their communities. The ultimate goal of Dr. Lenstra's work is to acknowledge, understand, and support libraries and library workers as critical components of what the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation calls a Culture of Health. He is currently finishing a project with the South Carolina Center for Rural & Primary Healthcare that consists of a state-wide assessment of needs and opportunities related to building local library-health partnerships, and he is also an active member of the Association for Rural & Small Libraries. His book Healthy Living at the Library: Programs for All Ages was published by Libraries Unlimited in April 2020. | Dr. Noah Lenstra |
